TOLEDO, Ohio – On Sunday, September 1, 2013, HCR Manor Care Gives presents BOOKIN’ IT 5K to benefit Read for Literacy. BOOKIN’ IT will be held at the Center for Emergency Preparedness at Owens College, 30150 Tracy Road in Walbridge, OH 43465 with race time beginning at 8:00 am.
Registration for BOOKIN’ IT is taking place now for individuals and teams to register for the 5K or the 1 Mile fun walk. A fee of $20 will be charged for registrations received from now until August 18, 2013 online at: www.readforliteracy.org, Facebook at Read for Literacy, or in person at the Read for Literacy office located on the 1st Mezzanine at the Main Library at 325 Michigan Ave. All participants registering by August 18, 2013 will receive a technical running shirt. All registered runners are eligible for awards. Children under the age of 9 who participate will also receive a completion award.
Form a team of friends, co-workers or family. Four (4) or more walkers or runners participate as a team which promises reserved seating, a team photo and fun prizes for best dressed and most spirit!
BOOKIN’ IT 5K was formerly called the Fahrenheit 419 Race, so with a new name comes a few new twists and turns allowing all runners and walkers to experience a great morning event! Honorary Chair this year will be weekend Anchor Bill Hormann who will be joined by his own family, including wife Peverley and 12 month old twins Connor and Ryan! Join us as we work to end low-literacy in our community and to provide the necessary programs to assist families who need our help!
According to Board member and Race Chairman Martin Allen, “this race and walk are geared for fun, teamwork and adventure. The course is staffed with wonderful volunteers and a host of people who are dedicated to Read for Literacy. When you race with us, not only are you adding to your personal fitness, you are joining in the fight to end low-literacy in our community!”
