Fall 2013 auditions for UT Jazz Groups are happening next week, Tuesday, August 20, from 9 am to 1 pm in UT's Center for Performing Arts. All instruments wanted!

•Combos

ABOUT THE GROUPS
All the groups perform 1-2 on-campus concerts every semester, and the combos play regularly off-campus at Crystal’s Lounge (in the Ramada Inn on Secor & I-475).
•Jazz Ensemble is a traditional Big Band.
•Guitarkestra is a guitar ensemble with a rhythm section.
•Vocalstra is a jazz vocal group with a rhythm section.
•Latin Jazz includes various horns or voice with lots of percussion.
•Combos are rhythm sections with horns - various sizes, emphasizing improvisation.
ABOUT THE AUDITION
The audition is not a big deal. It is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your abilities on your instrument, and for us to assess your abilities so that we can place you in the best group for your educational experience and enjoyment. Depending on your abilities and talents, we may ask you to sight-read a piece, improvise (if you do that), and play a few scales or demonstrate a swing or latin feel. Optionally, if you have a piece you would like to sing or play, we may listen to that.
WHAT TO BRING
•Horn players: your instrument.
•Drummers: sticks (we will have a kit)
•Bass and guitar players: your instrument AND CHORD (we have an amp)
•Singers: your voice and 3 copies of any lead sheet (that you might want to do)
