Bring Your Baby to Mother Goose Storytime!
What rhymes with Toledo? If anyone would know, it's the fairest fowl in the history of nursery rhymes and fairy tales: Mother Goose - and she's coming to Ohio.
Or at least her timeless fables are. Mother Goose Storytime is a fun and fantastic learning experience for little ones that's coming to a library near you throughout the winter. Give your child the gift of experiencing or re-living the most famous and beloved literary classics.
What the Gander?
If your child is between 12 and 23 months and doesn't mind having his or her creative side dazzled, bring them down to Way Library. The storytime program will let your little one leave this world and take a wild ride of the imagination. More than just a reading, the program encourages active participation and interaction between you, your little golden egg, and a helpful member of the library staff. The fun includes books, songs, and rhymes that follow the guidelines of Every Child Ready to Read.
Where and When to Migrate
Fly south for the winter to Way Public Library, Youth Activity Center. 101 E. Indiana Ave. in Perrysburg. Here's a goose-eye view of the location. Join the friendly library staff every Thursday at either 9:30am or 10:30am until Dec 31, 2013.
About the Library
The library has been at its current site since 1892. When a prominent citizen named Willard V. Way died, he left his sizeable estate to the people of Perrysburg and the first library in Wood County was established, originally in the living room of the very first librarian, Miss Harriet Hulburd. More than a century later, the library holds 113,511 titles.
Commitment to Children
If your little one was part of the Summer Reading Program - where more than 8,000 books were voraciously consumed by children up to 10 years old - you know about Way Library's commitment to children's literacy.
About Mother Goose
Mother Goose is a fictional author whose ancestry is old and uncertain. She is the mind behind some of the most recognizable stories in history. Trying to imagine a world without Mother Goose would force you to imagine a world without "Mary Had a Little Lamb," "Tweedle Dee," "Humpty Dumpty," "Miss Muffet," "Jack Be Nimble," "Jack and Jill," "Rock-a-bye Baby," "Three Blind Mice," and countless other classics.
You child is young only once, and there is only one Mother Goose. You can give your child the gift of learning and imagination and connect them with classics so timeless that he or she will one day pass them on to their own curious children.
