Masterworks Chorale announces 2013-14 season
TOLEDO, O.—Masterworks Chorale, a mixed voice ensemble comprised of singers from the Toledo-area, and led by new artistic director Tim Cloeter, will present three concerts for its 2013-14 season.
The love of a mother for her child, the wonder of new life and the mystery and illumination of angels is the inspiration for this year’s Christmas concert. “Mary and the Angels” starts at 8 p.m. Dec. 7 and 4 p.m. Dec. 8 at Epworth United Methodist Church in Toledo.
On March 15, the Chorale celebrates love and faith with “From the Heart and Soul,” featuring works by Brahms, Whitacre, Dickau and others. The concert begins at 8 pm at St. Michael’s in the Hills Episcopal Church in Ottawa Hills.
“Collage VII” begins at 8 p.m. May 31 at the Valentine Theatre in Toledo and will feature gifted singers, dancers and instrumentalists from throughout the area performing music from around the world.
Join Masterworks Chorale at 4 p.m. Dec. 15 at Olivet Lutheran Church in Sylvania to recreate Handel’s “Messiah.” Audience members can sing with the Chorale in an unrehearsed reading of the masterpiece, or just listen. The event is free. Singers are asked to bring a score and a canned food donation for the Olivet Lutheran Church Food Pantry. Scores will be available at the door for a small fee.
