Lourdes University Drama Society
The Lourdes University Drama Society will present Ira Levin’s Deathtrap on Friday, October 11, Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, October 12 at 2 p.m. Keith Ramsdell, Society Advisor, directs this Tony-nominated play that has become an international hit and a major motion picture.
"We’re excited to bring Broadway’s longest running comedy-thriller to the Lourdes’ stage,” Ramsdell said. “For those who have never seen the play, they’re in for a roller-coaster ride from beginning to end.”
One of the greatest popular successes of recent Broadway history, this ingeniously constructed play offers a rare and skillful blending of two priceless theatrical ingredients: gasp-inducing thrills and spontaneous laughter. Deathtrap provides twists and turns and sudden shocks in such abundance that audiences will be held spellbound until the very last moment.
Sidney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, is struggling to overcome a dry spell. A possible break in his fortunes occurs when he receives a script from a student - a thriller which Sidney recognizes immediately as a potential Broadway hit. Sidney's plan, which he devises with his wife's help, is to offer collaboration to the student, an idea which the younger man quickly accepts. Thereafter the suspense mounts steadily as the plot thickens with devilish cleverness.
Performances will be in the Franciscan Center Theatre. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for seniors. Advanced purchase is suggested as seating for all of the performances is limited.
