WGTE presents "The Battle of Lake Erie" at Way Library

On Thursday, October 17th at 10:30 a.m., WGTE and Way Library will present the program “Toledo Stories: The Battle of Lake Erie”. Two hundred years after Oliver Hazard Perry’s victory over the British, tall ships convene to re-enact this turning point in the War of 1812.

The Battle of Lake Erie was fought on September 10, 1813 near Put-in-Bay, Ohio and was one of the decisive battles of the War of 1812. During the battle, nine US vessels defeated six vessels of the British Royal Navy. The re-enactment of this historic battle took place on Labor Day, September 2nd, 2013, with the participation of over 550 re-enactors. During the half-hour documentary film you will have a chance to see the battle re-creation as well as the preparations, all in high definition. There will be an opportunity for discussion following the screening.

This program is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served.
