Preserving Art Tatum's Legacy: A Birthday Celebration!
The Citizens’ Advisory Board of the Art Tatum African American Resource Center will celebrate the birth anniversary of jazz giant and Toledo native Art Tatum (October 13, 1909 – November 5, 1956) in the auditorium of the Kent Branch Library Access Center, 3101 Collingwood Blvd., from 2-4 p.m. this Saturday, October 12.
Tatum’s virtuosic piano technique still astounds musicians, scholars and fans across all genres nearly 60 years after his death.
Pianist Jim Gottron will be featured at Kent this Saturday playing many of Tatum’s arrangements.
This event is FREE and open to the public. Cake will be served and camaraderie is encouraged!
