Diabetes Youth Services Hosts 8th Annual Sweet Success Gala
Diabetes Youth Services (DYS) will present its Eighth Annual Sweet Success Gala on Friday, Oct. 25, at Hilton Garden Inn in Perrysburg. The fundraising event will be presented by ProMedica Toledo Children’s Hospital, and John E. Brunner, M.D., will serve as the 2013 Honorary Chair.
The Sweet Success Gala helps to fund educational programs and services for more than 3,000 children living with type 1 diabetes in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. DYS focuses on teaching children and their families how to manage their diabetes on a daily basis. Unique services include Hot Shot Camps, school support and Nurse Educator outreach, along with family programs and events.
“We are excited that ProMedica Toledo Children’s Hospital and Dr. Brunner will be presenting this year’s Sweet Success Gala,” said Mary Beth Alberti, DYS executive director. “Dr. Brunner truly understands the impact of diabetes on children and their families, and brings a great passion to his work. As Honorary Chair, he promises an exciting evening that will help support the many programs we offer children living with type 1 diabetes and their families.”
The gala event will run from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. and feature dinner, a cash bar and silent and live auctions for such items as sports memorabilia, vacation rentals, and food, wine and jewelry packages. Registration for the evening is $100 per person; register online and learn more about the Sweet Success Gala by visiting www.dys4kids.org. Proceeds of the 2013 Sweet Success Gala will support DYS camp and school education programs.
