Devlac Hall Celebrates 20 Years
Behavioral Connections of Wood County is proud to announce the 20 year anniversary of Devlac Hall.
Devlac Hall, located at 1033 Devlac Grove, off West Gypsy Lane Road in Bowling Green, opened their doors in 1993 with a grant from the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services (ODADAS). Devlac Hall is a residential treatment facility serving approximately 80 chemically-dependent and dually-diagnosed women per year. Evidence-based, gender specific, holistic treatment is provided 7 days-a-week for an average stay of 10 weeks.
Clinicians address chemical dependency, mental health and trauma issues by providing group and individual counseling, case management and parenting and family programming. Devlac serves out-of-county rural women as well as in-county women and their children.
Important 2012 Devlac Hall Numbers:
• For every drug-free baby born, Devlac saves the community $150,000 per child for the first year of care. Three Devlac residents had drug-free babies shortly after discharge. Savings: $450,000
• For every child living with their mother and kept out of the child welfare system, Devlac saves the community $28,000 per child, per year. 13 children lived with their Devlac mother. Savings: $364,000.
• For every woman in treatment versus incarcerated, Devlac Hall saves the criminal justice system $25,000 per woman. 18 Devlac women were kept out of prison. Savings: $450,000.
• Every time a woman uses a health clinic or other healthcare services instead of an emergency room, Devlac Hall saves the healthcare system $800 per visit. 16 women were provided clinic visits versus visiting the ER. Savings: $12,800.
An open house was held Friday, October 18. The public had an opportunity to meet the staff and tour the facility. Speakers included Tracy Plouck, director of Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services; Ohio Sen. Randall Gardner and Ohio Rep. Tim Brown from Wood County; as well as Devlac alumnae.
