Get All Your Shopping Done During The Holiday Loop

This holiday season, give your car a break. Get all your shopping done during the holiday loop event taking place in Toledo on Saturday, November 16th, from noon to 5 p.m.

The Arts Commission of Toledo is sponsoring its bi-annual Gallery Loop & Holiday Loop series. This winter, enjoy the luxury of shopping from the convenience of a complimentary bus ride. Last year, over 2,500 Toledo residents took advantage of the free transportation and accessibility afforded by this public service.

In 2013, the Holiday Loop will bring holiday shoppers downtown, where they may partake of the endless array of boutiques and restaurants basking in the glow of holiday lighting and seasonal good cheer.

The purpose of the Holiday Loop event is to support downtown Toledo business endeavors, bringing purposeful shoppers together with the entrepreneurial spirit of downtown vendors.

Too often, frazzled holiday shoppers get caught up in the material world where buying inexpensive mass-made products from chain stores makes other countries rich and leaves our local economy suffering.

This year, it's possible to make a real difference to your local economy. Make a statement and set a good example to your neighbors and friends by buying local and buying quality goods.

The shops and boutiques featured in the Holiday Loop are all owned and operated by local artisans and craftsmen. You won't find knock-offs, mass-produced items, or items made overseas in these stores. Instead, on these shelves you will find the highest quality merchandise, handmade by people who can look you in the eye and promise you integrity and quality.

More than 40 venues and over 100 artists participated last year, waiting to show you their fines works of art, creative gifts, and personal works of craftsmanship. Won't you show them your support by participating in this year's Holiday Loop?

Enjoy a day of shopping come alive with good cheer and friendship. Gather your friends for an afternoon of shopping where no one has to drive and there is plenty of space for packages. Leave your car behind at one of the many free secure parking lots and hop on the free bus taking you to your destination downtown.

Free car parking lots include:

  • Collingwood Arts Center at 2413 Collingwood Boulevard
  • Toledo School for the Arts at 333 14th Street
  • Ottawa Tavern at 1815 Adams Street
  • Manos Greek Restaurant at1701 Adams Street
  • Toledo City Paper at 1120 Adams Street

Plenty of restaurants will be open for your dining pleasure. To take a break from your shopping spree, stop at Glass City Café, Downtown Latte, Flying Rhino Coffee & Chocolate, Fine Things Bistro, Shorty's Bar B Que, or Mancy's Steak House. Don't worry. After your dining experience, there will be plenty more shopping to enjoy.

Holiday Loops are financially supported by the F.S. Upton Foundation, the Ohio Arts Council, grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the American Recovery Act, and many more generous donors.
