Auditions for ‘Noises Off’ to be held Nov. 16
Auditions for Noises Off, a physically-demanding comedy written by Michael Frayn and directed by Carol Ann Erford, will be held at the Toledo Repertoire Theatre, 16 10th Street on Saturday, November 16 at 1 p.m. The cast is comprised of nine characters, five males and four females, ranging from ages 20 to 50+. Sides will be provided for cold reads. Callbacks are slated for Tuesday, November 19 at 7 p.m. Second only to Arsenic and Old Lace in the Toledo Rep’s audience survey of requested shows, Noises Off is a play-within-a play. It begins with the final dress rehearsal of the dreadful sex comedy, “Nothing On.” Botched entrances, forgotten lines, missed cues, and uncooperative props are all the sure-fire makings of an opening night flop. The second act offers a glimpse of the same show from back stage—complete with all the behind-the-scenes antics patrons never get to enjoy—while the final act is the show nearing the end of its ten-week run, long after someone should have put a fork in it.
