Maumee Valley to Host Screening of Girl Rising
The Global Leadership Program and the Upper School Feminist Club at Maumee Valley Country Day School presents a screening of Girl Rising. This feature film spotlights the remarkable stories of nine girls around the world striving beyond circumstance and overcoming nearly insurmountable odds to achieve their dreams. In its presentation, the film promotes a powerful truth: educating girls can transform families, communities, and entire countries. Girl Rising is a grassroots global action campaign for girls’ education, powered by girls, women, boys, and men around the world who stand for equality. Snacks and beverages will be for sale, along with Girl Rising merchandise order forms and proceeds will be donated directly to the Girl Rising organization. Please join the Maumee Valley community for this screening at 6:15pm in the Millennium Theater, immediately followed by a reception in the Commons. This event is free admission and open to the public.

About The Global Leadership Program
Global Leadership is a student driven program comprised of five sub-committees which spend the year exploring different aspects of a chosen topic which is relevant to today’s society. In the past year alone Global Leadership has managed to organize socials to integrate Maumee Valley’s global community, hosted two nationally-recognized speakers to campus, and organized a GLP blog and discussion forum. In short, the program works extensively to give students a greater understanding of their place in the world, as the foundation of the next generation, and what they can do to change it.
