PRIZM Creative Community, in collaboration with Way Public Library, is sponsoring an “Intensive Manuscript Class for Fiction Writers,” led by BGSU Professor Wendell Mayo. The class will take place on February 8th from 1-4 pm at Way Public Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave. in Perrysburg. This is a studio-oriented fiction workshop where intensive critique of short story or novel chapter manuscripts will be done in preparation for publication submission. The workshop is designed for individuals seeking professional feedback and leads for publication venues.

The workshop fee is $55 for PRIZM members or $65 for guests. Registration is on a first come, first served basis and limited to 10 people. Participants can register online at www.MyPrizm.com or by mail with a check made out to PRIZM. If registering by mail, please send your check along with your manuscript to PRIZM, 26155 Edinborough Cir, Perrysburg, OH 43551. Manuscripts and class fees must be received by Monday, January 20th. Please direct any questions to Prizm @ 419-931-8732 or to [email protected].

After registration each participant should send to PRIZM manuscripts of short stories or novel chapters with a maximum of 15 pages (12 pt size, Times Roman Font, typed, and double-spaced). Manuscripts must be postmarked or received by email @ [email protected] by Jan 20th in order to participate. Please include your name, address, email and phone number on the manuscript, as well as in any email communications.

Prior to the workshop the instructor will send a packet with a copy of all submitted manuscripts along with guidelines of how each person can respond to fellow participants. Professor Mayo will read and comment in writing on each manuscript and will make endnotes that will include at least one suggestion of an editor or publisher to which participants can send their manuscripts. At the workshop itself, participants will enjoy a peer discussion session facilitated by Wendell Mayo in which all manuscripts will be discussed one by one. At that time participants will receive the individual feedback from peers and Professor Mayo.
