Alumnae to direct Just Desserts

The Lourdes Drama Society will present their second annual musical showcase entitled “Just Desserts” from February 13 through 15. Under the direction of Lourdes alumnae, Kelly Welever and Megan Carter, the production will feature selections from several hit Broadway musicals including Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Company and Rent, while the audience enjoys a variety of dessert options. All proceeds will benefit the Drama Society.

“This production was completely Kelly’s idea,” stated Keith Ramsdell, advisor for the Drama Society. “She came to me last year wanting to direct a production that would benefit the group, and this is the result. The combination of great music and desserts around a Valentine’s Day theme is brilliant. I’m extremely proud of her!”

Welever, who is currently working on a degree in theatre at Siena Heights University, approached several area businesses seeking support for the production. Donors included Budget Blinds, Jimmy John’s, Michael’s Café, and Great Lakes Sound and Lighting. “So many businesses and volunteers have helped to make this production a reality. It’s been an amazing experience,” said Welever.

Performances will be in the Ebeid Student Center on the Lourdes University campus starting at 8 p.m. each evening. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for students and seniors, which includes desserts and beverages. Tickets can be reserved by calling 419-824-3999. They can also be purchased at the door prior to each performance.
