Jan. 21 Program on 'Privacy and the Internet' at Way Library

On Tuesday, January 21st at 7 pm, Way Library, in cooperation with the League of Women Voters of the Perrysburg Area (LWVPA), will host a presentation on privacy and the Internet. The speaker is Dr. Montana Miller, Associate Professor of Popular Culture at Bowling Green State University. Dr. Miller will discuss the themes of privacy, power, and idealism and the relation of these themes to WikiLeaks, all in the context of our cyber-connected culture.
Dr. Miller is an expert in the emerging field of Internet research ethics, promoting a better understanding of the context and ethical dilemmas online research entails. Dr. Miller has served on BGSU's Human Subjects Review Board since 2006 and has been chair of the Internet Culture area of the national Popular Culture Association. One of the first scholars to study social networking from an anthropological perspective, Dr. Miller teaches annual courses in Internet Culture. She speaks to university faculties and Human Subjects Review Boards, as well as community organizations, around the country on the topic of Internet research, ethics, and privacy.
