Way Library hosts book talk with Robert Matzen
On Sunday, February 16 at 2:00 p.m., Way Library will host a book talk by author Robert Matzen. Mr. Matzen will be discussing his recently published book, “Fireball: Carole Lombard and the Mystery of Flight 3.”
Carole Lombard was killed in a plane crash in 1942 on a war bond tour. Lombard was a popular Hollywood actress and was married to the biggest star there was at that time, Clark Gable. The book covers her life and also explores the lives of the 21 others on the doomed plane, including 15 members of the U.S. Army Air Corps, and addresses one of the most enduring mysteries of World War II: On a clear night full of stars, with TWA’s most experienced pilot at the controls of a 10-month old aircraft under the power of two fully functioning engines, why did Flight 3 crash into that Nevada mountainside?
Mr. Matzen, author of several Hollywood books, most notably on Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland is a native of Pittsburgh. He will be available to sign and sell his books after the presentation. This author talk is open to the public. No reservations required. Refreshments will be served.
