FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TIME IS LIMITLESS ON STAGE THIS THURSDAY
TOLEDO SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS DANCERS TO PERFORM AT VALENTINE

TOLEDO, OH- This Thursday, March 6th, the Studio of Alison Reny at Toledo School for the Arts presents their 6th annual Limitless dance exhibition. Each year a different theme is chosen, and in 2014 students will take on the idea that “Time is Limitless.”

“The show will incorporate a wide variety of concepts, spanning decades and leaving the viewer to ruminate on the idea of time and how it is constant. This constancy, though it never feels the same, leaves us to run out of time, bargain to slow time down, grow old or stay young, and perhaps even waste time,” explained Reny. The dance teacher takes on a wide variety of instruction at the school, providing Limitless audiences the benefit of seeing lyrical, ballet, modern, tap, musical theatre, jazz and contemporary styles while purchasing a single ticket for a single show.

While approximately 90% of the choreography is generated by Reny, she was quick to highlight that senior students are challenged to present their own solos. Every fall, a Choreography Showcase competition takes place among her students (this year at the newly renovated Ohio Theater) and in a tie for first place, students Cairo Gere and Jaelyn Blake will have their choreography presented to a much larger audience via Limitless.

TSA dance instructors, unlike those in many private studios, have the added challenge of teaching across a student roster of varying grade levels, abilities, experience levels and style interests. Reny has students from all grade levels- 6th through 12th- and for a smaller school without sports, student endurance will impress audiences as they perform in anywhere from three to ten numbers each. When asked how she prepares such a wide cross-section of students for a single show, Reny responds, “Students have been preparing for this since August. Most of the work is done in class, with a few outside rehearsals once we get closer to the show. And of course, numerous hours will be spent on choreography and staging this week during on-site Valentine rehearsals.“

As the Limitless series reaches its sixth annual run, Reny reflects, “Some of my seniors I have taught since 7th grade. It is amazing to see them progress! It is bittersweet to watch the Limitless show, because it is the very last show I will get to choreograph for them. Then, I realize they are going onto so many more amazing things! Limitless is our favorite time of the year, and the students have a wonderful time putting their hours, months and-for some- years of work onto the Valentine Stage.”

Time is Limitless will take place on Thursday, March 6th at 7pm in the historic Valentine Theatre (610 Adams St., Toledo, OH). Tickets run $18, $14 and $8, dependent on seating, and are available through the Valentine Box Office at 419-242-2787. Limitless 2014 is presented by Erie Drug & Kahler Pharmacy and The Blade. This show routinely sells out, so audiences are encouraged to purchase in advance!
