"Touring the Baltics" photo journey at Way Library 3/25
Join Jan and Gary Samples on March 25 at 2 pm as they take you on a tour of three Baltic countries. Your visit explores Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia where you will learn and see how they are emerging from a turbulent history. Enjoy their capitals of Vilnius, Riga, and Tallin and the well preserved Old Towns, castles, city walls, and churches – many are designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Gary and Jan Samples are now retired from school teaching. Gary taught social studies and government in the Toledo Public Schools and was a Perrysburg City Council member for 24 years. He is currently involved with the area council on governments – TMACOG. Jan taught lower elementary grades at Maumee Valley Country Day School. Their hobbies include genealogy, gardening, volunteering, and of course, travel. Together they have been to 49 of our states and 37 other countries. Sometimes they bike – 1200 miles in southern France and 750 miles along the Danube River, 400 mile trip along the Erie Canal, sometimes they hike – last year - 101 miles in England along Hadrian’s Wall, sometimes canoeing in the USA and Canada. Gary has also been in New Zealand bicycling 1300 miles in one month. Their travels are a mix of independent and group tours.
The March 25 event at Way Library is free of charge and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
