Posted: Tuesday, April 22, 2014 by: Rose Mills | Category: Arts and Entertainment

France is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world and Normandy is of particular interest to many Americans. Tour this area free of charge and with no airport hassles with travel junkie, Judy Pfaffenberger on Wednesday April 23 at 7 pm at Way Library.

Judy begins her tour in Le Havre, whose port was the exit point for thousands of immigrants to the U.S. Le Havre was 90% destroyed in WW II but is now a vibrant city. Visit the Alabaster Coste, the quaint town of Honfleur, and Rouen which is famous for its half-timbered old town, massive cathedral, and Joan of Arc. After a short stop at Cherbourg you will visit the historic D-Day beaches where we're reminded of the tragedy and triumph which took place there 70 years ago. The trip ends at sunset at magnificent Mont St. Michel (pictured). This program is free and open to the public.
