Reel Opinions program
On Thursday, April 24th at 10:30 a.m., WGTE and Way Library will present the program “The Address”, a film by Ken Burns. At the tiny Greenwood School in Putney, Vermont, 50 boys, ages 11 to 17, struggle through myriad learning differences to memorize and recite the Gettysburg Address, a rite of passage at the school for the last 35 years. Interweaving the history of this most famous of American speeches with the contemporary journey of the boys at Greenwood, “The Address” reveals the timeless resonance of Lincoln’s words, while culminating in the triumph of the human spirit. There will be an opportunity for discussion following the screening.
This program is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served.
