Flying Joe Barista Headed to Coffee Camp
Perrysburg, Ohio – Bri Gibson, general manager of The Flying Joe coffeehouse at Levis Commons is packing her gear and heading off to camp; coffee camp.
Presented by True Stone Coffee Roasters in St. Paul, MN, coffee camp is set for August 22 and includes intensive hands-on training in: advanced espresso techniques, milk steaming and drink preparation, manual brewing, and coffee cupping and roasting. All instruction is based on industry standards and best practices set by the Specialty Coffee Association of America and the Barista Guild of America.
“Education and ongoing training is a big component of what we do,” commented owner Becky Ohm. “We believe that the best cup of coffee doesn’t exist yet and in our quest to make people happy through great coffee, we want to provide opportunities for our baristas to continuously learn and perfect their craft.”
“I'm so excited to be able to bring something back to our community. Not just to the staff, but also to our customers,” said Bri Gibson. “When someone asks why we do things the way we do, things like coffee camp help us stay on the edge of the answers. Like any skill or profession, you can always learn more, and if we're learning more, both sides of the counter benefit,” she continued.
