Toledo Rep 2014/15 season opens with The Pirates of Penzance
The Toledo Rep’s “The Pirates of Penzance” runs September 12-14 and 18-21 on the 10th Street Stage.
The classic, hilarious comic opera by William S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan, also known as “The Slave of Duty,” will open the Toledo Repertoire Theatre’s 82nd season. The show tells the tale about young Frederic, who is released from his apprenticeship to a band of tender-hearted pirates upon completing his 21st year. He wishes to marry—only to discover that since he was born on February 29, his 21st birthday will not occur for another 63 years.
The cast includes:
Cole Conway as Frederic; Lydia Schafer as Ruth; Jennifer Braun as Mabel; Eric Hillenbrand as Pirate King; Mark Owen as Major General; Paul Soska as Sargent of Police; Brock Jaworski as Samuel.
Pirates are David Clare, Tanner DuVall, Domonique Glover, JR Jones, Greg Kissner, Josh Kramer, Cameron Lightfoot, Jon Masters and Lindsey Smith.
Police are Patrick Barrett, Christian Britton, Chuck Georgi, George Mancy, Fred Robinson, Madeline Smith, Tim Teague and Charles Waters.
Major-General Stanley’s Wards are as follows: Mackenzie Box as Edith; Alana Eddy as Isabel; Tim Sanders as Brook; Erin Ripley as Olive; Becky Perry as Marcella; Reagan Patterson as Prudence; Sarah Matlow as Beatrice, and Amber Breault-Albain as Kate.
Directed by Debra Ross Calabrese and musical director David Jex, Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances of “The Pirates of Penzance” will begin at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.
