Soul City Advances in the National Silver Gloves Tournament
Father and son coaching duo Otha and Roshawn Jones trained fighters for months to qualify for the Junior Olympic team in in Reno, Nevada in early December. They practiced nightly at Soul City Boxing & Wrestling Gym in Central Toledo, an anti-gang and anti-violence organization in the process of obtaining their 501c3 nonprofit status. Three out of Five of their fighters, including two from Toledo won Gold Medals for their performance in Reno including Otha Jones III, a freshman at Scott High School, and Zhane Crockett, a freshman at Central Catholic High School.
The team is in need of donations to help get them to Independence Missouri in order to advance in the National Silver Gloves Tournament. Several fighters from Soul City won fights in their weight class in Cincinnati Ohio January 17 including Caleb Crockett, Danavion Neal, Daveon Foster, Ja’Montae Jones, and Chris Jones. Donations can be sent to 801 Junction Toledo OH 43607 made out to Soul City Boxing & Wrestling Gym to help them pay for expenses to compete in Missouri.
