PIADA Italian Street Food Grand Opening Weekend
Toledo fans of Piada’s fresh, authentic Italian cuisine asked for the fast casual restaurant to set up shop in its city—and Piada listened! No more drives to Michigan or other locations in Ohio for Piada’s light, olive oil brushed dough, Salads, and Pastas. Toledo’s own 2,300 square-foot Piada restaurant will open its doors to fans May 22 and employ 40 in the contemporary space, filled with marble, steel, tile, and wood pieces.
Piada is a fast casual Italian eatery serving hand-rolled Piadas, Pasta Bowls and Chopped Salads. The secret to Piada’s authentic Italian food is the Piada itself, a light Italian flatbread brushed with olive oil and seasoning, then baked at a very high heat so it browns and bubbles. Guests then fill the Piada, or top their Pasta or Salad, with their choice of healthy grilled meats and fresh vegetables.
Started in 2010 by restaurateur Chris Doody, Piada actually began as an idea scribbled on a napkin during a visit to Rimini, Italy. Doody found distinct charm in the family-operated food carts and corner markets scattered throughout the streets of the city. His observations ultimately inspired Piada’s principles of passion and pride for quality ingredients and simplistic cooking techniques. Doody, co-founder of the Bravo Brio Restaurant Group, has helped grow Piada to 21 locations across Ohio, Michigan and Indiana, with six more restaurant openings planned for later this year in new markets like Minneapolis, Minn., and Houston, Texas.
