A Cappella Choir of BGSU in Concert
The A Cappella Choir of Bowling Green State University will perform a program of sacred and secular choral music at the First Presbyterian Church of Maumee on Thursday, May 14 at 7:00 p.m.
The sacred portion of the program will feature a variety of styles ranging from a 16th century English anthem… to a contemporary setting of William Blake’s famous poem “The Lamb” by English composer John Tavener… to a newly-commissioned African-American spiritual by Stacy Gibbs titled “In His Care-O”. Secular pieces will include “Tunggare” by Australian composer Stephen Leek and an arrangement of the English folk song “I Love My Love” by Gustav Holst.
The A Cappella Choir consists of 30 singers who are primarily music majors. Mark Munson is director of the chorus. Although there will be no charge for admission, a freewill offering will be taken to help defray the expenses of the choir.
