Aurora Project Celebrates Opening of New Residence
The Aurora Project will celebrate the opening of its Permanent Supportive Housing Residence (New Beginnings) with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday June 15th from 10-11 am. The four apartment facility located on 529 Elm Street will house women who have “graduated” from Aurora’s main residence, located at 1035 North Superior. This supportive housing signifies an important step on the road back to self-sufficiency for the women and their children.
“This new residence brings us closer to our vision of a complete campus, safely housing women from intake through independent living while staying true to our mission of providing safe and supportive housing” said Denise Fox, Aurora’s Executive Director.
Several local dignitaries will attend the ceremony, including Mayor Hicks-Hudson, representatives of City Council and Lucas County. The public is also welcome to attend. For more information, please call Aurora at 419-244-3200.

Aurora Project, Inc. is a comprehensive housing and life skills program that empowers homeless women and their children to achieve self-sufficiency and independence by providing resources and learning opportunities in a supportive and safe environment.
Aurora is the only program in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan that will allow children to reside with their mothers while addressing the issues which led to their homelessness.
Aurora provides a long term solution to homelessness. 70% of the women who complete our program will remain successful, i.e. housing, employment/education, etc. Aurora’s program changes lives by providing a “hand up and not just a hand out.”
