Chicks for Charity to Host Annual Event for Unique Nonprofit
At 17, Britteny no longer felt like the vibrant teenager with a bright future and straight A’s. Britteny was now “the pregnant girl”: alone, ashamed and scared of what her once promising future held. Unsure of how she could raise her son and continue her education, Britteny turned to the help of Mom’s House to finish college and earn her bachelor of science in nursing. Britteny now works at a local hospital and she and her son have thrived thanks in large part to the support and encouragement they received from Mom’s House.
My name is Allison Westhoven and I’m contacting you on behalf of Chicks for Charity. Our largest annual fundraising event, Chicks Mix ’15 is fast approaching. More than 400 women and girls are expected to come out to the Toledo Botanical Garden on Tuesday, July 7 from 5:30-9 p.m. to show their support for Mom’s House and moms like Britteny. Mom’s House strives to break the cycles of poverty and welfare by preparing young, single mothers for the challenges of balancing educational goals with responsible parenting.
For additional details, the official news release is attached. Please feel free to contact me or Emily Barry (419.241.2221 or firstname.lastname@example.org) if you’re interested in learning more about how both organizations are transforming Northwest Ohio – I would be happy to set up a time for you to talk with Mom’s House or a representative from Chicks for Charity prior to or during the event.
Thank you so much and we look forward to hearing from you!
