Call for Artists: COLOR MY WORLD Youth Art Invitational Exhibit
Do you have a little extra time this summer to try something different? Do you want to challenge yourself to learn a new creative skill, complete a successful rainy day project, or mentor a young person? Are you a talented adult willing to mentor a budding new artist and encourage them to enter their first art exhibition? PRIZM Creative Community and Way Public Library calls all families, neighbors, grandparents and older siblings to work with area youth in preparing for our summer YOUTH Art Invitational for children and teens through Jr. High Age. The ”Color My World,” Exhibition will be on display in Way’s lower level gallery at 101 E. Indiana St. in Perrysburg from August 17 to October 13.
Young artists are encouraged to choose from all kinds of artistic media to create two-dimensional or three-dimensional art works. Acceptable entries include pottery, fiber, glass, jewelry, acrylics, watercolors, markers, inks, etc. Please do not submit culinary art forms or perishable items. Creative themes from your own imagination are welcomed, or choose a theme such as library-themed art, art made from recycled materials, or art featuring this summer’s reading program, “Every Hero Has a Story.” For more details and inspiration, see the application.
Applications and mentor guide are available on the homepage of the PRIZM website, at www.MyPrizm.com or on the Way website, www.waylibrary.info , or from the kiosk opposite the library’s Circulation Desk, Artwork and completed applications should be dropped off at the library between Monday, July 27 and Saturday, August 8 to be included in the exhibit.
A limited amount of Parents or older teens who wish to learn professional installation techniques will also be invited to work alongside PRIZM volunteers for the installation the week of August 10th. The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception on Monday, August 17 from 2-4 pm.? Awards and certificates will be presented at the reception (you do not have to be present to accept an award).? Refreshments will be served.
