The Ultimate Anniversary Party
What happens when five of the Toledo Region’s tech-centric businesses, entrepreneurs and organizations elect to celebrate their respective anniversaries together? They throw The Ultimate Anniversary Party. Combining forces for the Thursday, July 23 celebration will be digital agency Spoke Design, application development firm GroundSpeed, regional networking groups Tech Toledo and StartUp Toledo, and Seed Coworking. The event will be held at Seed Coworking, located at 25 South St. Clair Street — which bills itself as "Toledo’s Original Coworking Community." "We’re all friends, partners and co-workers. We thought, what if we threw one party for all of our anniversaries?” said Don Miller, president of GroundSpeed, and co-founder of Seed Coworking. His businesses turn five years and three years, respectively. Spoke Design president and Seed Coworking co-founder, Gene Powell added, “It isn’t solely about us. We’re going to recognize anyone in our circles who’s celebrating a business milestone. It’s important to stop, smell the roses and celebrate triumphs. We forget to do that as entrepreneurs sometimes." Powell, who is also co-founder of entrepreneur networking group StartUp Toledo, is celebrating the organization’s fourth year alongside sister tech networking organization, Tech Toledo. Tech Toledo, founded by Keith Instone and Stuart Bertsch in October 2011, was started from a need to get local tech people together and showcase local noteworthy achievements. The organization serves as a connector of other regional tech groups, entrepreneurs and events. “The spheres of influence of these companies and organizations overlap. The people in our group are also regular attendees of StartUp Toledo, so it only made sense to throw a party for the entire community,” said Tech Toledo co-founder Bertsch. “We’re working together to create a center of gravity for resources, ideas and conversations in the region." The Ultimate Anniversary Party will feature food available from Rosie’s Rolling Chef, other refreshments and live music. Donations will be accepted at the event to benefit the recovery of Erin Lynch (the sister of Seed Coworking member Andrew Lynch), who was seriously injured in an auto accident May 25. Ms. Lynch is being treated at Regency Hospital in Sylvania. “We love giving back to the community,” said Seed Coworking partner, Adam Hansen. “To help someone else benefit from our success is what inspired this event to begin with." Donations to Erin Lynch’s recovery fund may be made online at gofundme.com/v7yhnpg. The Ultimate Anniversary Party will be held July 23 at 6:30PM at Seed Coworking.
