Fishing Rodeo at Sleepy Hollow Park

Posted: Friday, July 10, 2015 by: Stacy Weber | Category: Events

This Saturday, July 11th the Fishing Rodeo will be held at Sleepy Hollow Park, located at the corner of Dorr & Richards Road, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This event is for children ages 5 to 15, proof of age could be requested if your child appears to be over the age of 15. Fishing rods and bait are not provided but the pond has been stocked with fish of a variety of size including one that’s over four pounds! The first City of Toledo Fishing Rodeo was held in the 1930’s at Walden Pond in Ottawa Park. In the late 90’s the Division of Parks, Recreation and Forestry moved the Fishing Rodeo to Sleepy Hollow Park. The City of Toledo Fishing Rodeo is organized by The Division of Parks, Recreation & Forestry and supported by local companies and community groups, such as The Andersons. Prizes for the biggest fish and the most fish caught are done per age group. We encourage parents or guardians to consider bringing insect repellant, due to the rain we’ve experienced, the Sleepy Hollow Pond area is experiencing more mosquito activity than in years past. Since this is an outside event, it may be canceled without advance notice should weather conditions prevent the rodeo from taking place.
