The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library and Literati are pleased to present Open Book with Brittany Gibbons on Thursday, August 20. The evening kicks-off with a Literati VIP member reception with the author at 6 p.m., followed by Gibbons’ presentation for Open Book at 7 p.m. in the McMaster Center at Main Library (325 Michigan St.). A Q&A session and book signing will conclude the evening. For those who would like to be part of the Literati VIP reception, visit toledolibrary.org/literati for more information and to learn how to join. About the author: Brittany Gibbons is a humorist, internet personality, model and nationally recognized positive body image advocate. She began her blog www.BrittanyHerself.com in 2007, founded the magazine CurvyGirlGuide.com, and hosts “Last Call Brittany,” a weekly Google talk show. Her memoir Fat Girl Walking, is a New York Times best seller. About Fat Girl Walking: The critically acclaimed Fat Girl Walking is not a diet book. It’s not one of those memoirs about how someone battled, and won, the fight against fat. Instead, it is a book that reminds us all that being chubby doesn’t mean you’ll end up alone, unhappy, or the subject of a cable medical show. With her infectious humor and refreshing honesty, Gibbons’ reveals a life full of the same heartbreak, joy, oddity, awkwardness, and wonder as anyone else’s. Just with better snacks. Literati members will be treated to a private VIP reception with Gibbons prior to the start of her Open Book presentation For more details call 419.259.5193 or visit toledolibrary.org.
