Children’s Theatre Workshop Presents Holocaust Drama

Posted: Sunday, November 8, 2015 by: Aimee Reid | Category: Arts and Entertainment

Children’s Theatre Workshop (CTW), a nonprofit youth theatre located at the Collingwood Arts Center, will present "And a Child Shall Lead" by Michael Slade on November 20-21, 2015.

The play is based on the artwork, stories, newspapers, and poetry written by the children of Terezin, a “Jewish city” which served as a holding place for Jews waiting to be taken to camps during the Holocaust. This story celebrates the lives of the children and the way in which they maintained a sense of dignity and identity during a horrific time in European history. The teenaged performers of "And a Child Shall Lead" have visited the Michigan Holocaust Memorial Center in preparation for the production, and encourage audience members to reflect and start dialogue about the events surrounding the Holocaust.

Tickets for "And a Child Shall Lead" are $6 for students/seniors and $8 for adults and can be purchased online at www.ctwtoledo.org or at the door. The production will occur November 20, 2015 at 7:00 pm and November 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Performances will take place in the Tansey-Zimmerman Theatre in the Collingwood Arts Center, located at 2417 Collingwood Blvd, Toledo, OH 43620.

"And A Child Shall Lead" is supported by the Stranahan Supporting Organization of the Toledo Community Foundation, and the Brotje Family Fund.
