New Business Celebrates Opening in West Toledo
TOLEDO, Ohio – Jan. 11, 2016 – A new business in a familiar location has opened in West Toledo, and a January celebration and ribbon cutting is planned to introduce them to the community. Castillo Funeral Home is located at 1757 Tremainsville Rd., in the previous Gasiorowski-Hanneman Funeral Home. A community open house is scheduled for Saturday, January 16, 2016, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., and Toledo City Council member Sandy Spang will participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
A lifelong Toledo resident and 20-year licensed funeral director, John Castillo is a fixture in the West Toledo community. He is a graduate of St. John Jesuit High School and the University of Toledo. He has been active with many local organizations, including the West Toledo Kiwanis Club, where he also has served as its Distinguished President. In addition, Castillo has coached in many youth sports organizations, and is a football official in the State of Ohio. He has been in the Toledo funeral business for over 30 years, and has served as president of the Funeral Directors Association of Northwest Ohio.
With his own funeral home business, Castillo is dedicated to helping families celebrate the lives of their loved ones, with services that truly reflect the lives they have lived. “I love living here in Toledo and this neighborhood, and it is also reflected in everything we do as a business,” Castillo said. “The funeral planning process can be confusing, and it’s a very emotional time. I’m here to help families celebrate their loved ones’ lives as the most important part of any funeral services we plan.”
The January 16 community open house will feature tours of the facility and giveaways, along with refreshments in the downstairs event center that can hold groups of up to 64 for meetings, parties and other activities.
In the future, Castillo will hold free Preplanning Seminars every month. The seminars will explore the many preliminary plans individuals should consider making, and how to maintain the individuality of your own wishes throughout those plans.
