Toledo Zoo to Host Great Lakes Symposium
TOLEDO, Ohio – The mission of the Toledo Zoo is to inspire others to join us in caring for animals and conserving the natural world. That goal makes the Zoo the perfect host for an educational event focusing on environmental issues facing the Great Lakes and its watershed region. The Great Lakes Symposium will be held at the Toledo Zoo’s Indoor Theatre in the Museum of Science on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, however, pre-registration is required. Presenters include: Eugene Braig, program director of The Ohio State University School of Environment and Natural Resources Extension Aquatic Ecosystems program. Richard Budnik, Ph.D. student at Bowling Green State University Jay Hemdal, aquarium curator at the Toledo Zoo Laura Johnson, Ph.D., director of the National Center for Water Quality Research at Heidelberg University Patrick Lawrence, Ph.D., professor and department chair for the Department of Geography and Planning at the University of Toledo Ryan Walsh, Ph.D., Wild Toledo program coordinator at the Toledo Zoo To register or for more information, please visit toledozoo.org/symposium or contact the Toledo Zoo Education Department at 419-385-5721 ext. 2042.
