Aquatic Life, Art and Literature - an Art Exhibit at the Zoo
Maumee Valley Country Day School students in grades 1 through 6 have created an art exhibit for the Toledo Zoo Aquarium’s Reflections Gallery which can be viewed from March 4 – June 5, 2016. This collection of acrylic painting integrates art, literature, and aquatic animals. The young artists designed and painted animal characters which illustrate several poems, novels, fairy tales, stories, and nursery rhymes. They worked on seven large, wood panels ranging from 2’x4’ to 4’x5’, and applied the colorful paint and text or quotes from literature.
The fifth and sixth grade students and art club designed and painted the aquatic characters. Third and fourth grade students added details and line designs using glitter crayons. The small fish which are swimming around the large characters were cut out by the first and second grade students.
