TOLEDO, OHIO—On Thursday, August 4, participate in the 1st Annual FinnFest at Handmade Toledo (1717 Adams Street) in honor of Jason Finn, a local man living with paralysis. From 6 to 10 p.m., enjoy drinks, live music, auctions and raffles.

According to his tax deductible online donation page, Jason was just shy of his 47th birthday when a boogie-boarding accident in Puerto Rico left him with a C5 fracture and spinal cord injury. He is paralyzed from the chest down. Proceeds from the FinnFest fundraising event will be collected through the nonprofit HelpHOPELive to help cover injury-related uninsured expenses.

After intensive physical therapy that helped him to regain the use of his left arm, Jason and his partner, Jeni, moved back home in early June. He now faces a lifetime of injury-related costs, from caregiving expenses to ongoing home modifications and rehabilitation. “Unfortunately, most of these expenses are not covered by insurance,” explained Jason’s friends and family members.

Join FinnFest for $40 per person if tickets are purchased by July 29 or $50 per person if tickets are purchased on or after July 29. Tickets can be purchased online. Can’t make it to the event? Donations can be made to a fundraising campaign in honor of Jason at or by calling 800.642.8399.
