Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted recognizes and spotlights Ohio businesses for outstanding achievement each month, and Tony Packo’s® was chosen for its singular status concerning United States presidential visits. Packo’s Chairman and President Emily Bennett will receive the award in a short ceremony at 2pm on Wednesday, July 27th at the Original Tony Packo’s restaurant at 1902 Front Street in Toledo.
“That Tony Packo’s has been honored in this way by the state of Ohio,” notes Bennett, “is a wonderful reflection on the company’s long-standing mission to offer our guests a unique dining experience in a warm and welcoming setting. We are both touched and thrilled by this recognition.”
Since 1972, Packo’s has had visiting celebrities sign hot dog buns to be hung on the restaurant’s walls as a record of their visit to the eatery. Five U.S. presidents have signed buns, including Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.
Tony Packo’s has served its famous, great tasting food to millions of guests since founded by first-generation Hungarian-Americans Tony and Rose Packo in 1932, and has been a vital member of not only its local Toledo community, but to the greater national community as well through its commercial grocery brands.
