Panda Express Celebrates Holland Opening with Residents
America’s favorite Chinese kitchen opens first restaurant in Lucas County; hosts events at YMCA and Mercy’s Children’s Hospital to meet local residents and begin serving its new community
ROSEMEAD, California (July 25, 2016) – Panda Express, America’s favorite Chinese kitchen, is celebrating its first location in Lucas County this month, marking its continued growth and expansion in the U.S. Leading up to the Holland location grand opening on Aug. 10, the family-owned restaurant is building its relationship with the local community to introduce new guests to its iconic American Chinese cuisine and people-first culture. As part of this effort, Panda Express held events at the YMCA and Mercy’s Children’s Hospital in addition to supporting local organizations through its Panda Cares initiative.
With each new restaurant, Panda Express is grateful to become a positive member of the community and support the areas in which it is located. To share the excitement of its first location in Holland, the restaurant partnered with the local Wolf Creek YMCA for a family-friendly event on July 11. With over 50 children in attendance, the gathering included a spin wheel with an array of prizes, photo opportunities with the beloved brand mascot Tom-Tom, fortune cookie giveaways and more. A similar event was hosted at Mercy Children’s Hospital within its Mercy Autism Services clinic on July 12. Both events gave Panda Express the opportunity to meet local residents, bring smiles to many children and continue its mission of helping others better their lives.

Each Panda Express opening brings a number of job opportunities to residents, including the upcoming Holland restaurant which plans to hire at least 12 new associates. With a focus on people development and continuous learning to support both Panda and its associates’ growth, the new members will be provided with professional and personal improvement opportunities at every level. In search for potential associates, representatives from Panda Express attend local job fairs, including the Ohio Means Jobs event held on July 15. With a continued effort to serve the local community, Panda Express will donate 20 percent of grand opening day proceeds from its Holland location to the Wolf Creek YMCA Day Camp. In alignment with Panda Cares, Panda Express’ philanthropic arm committed to promoting the health and education of children, the Wolf Creek YMCA is dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
