Lourdes Named One of the Top 10 Safest Colleges in Ohio
Lourdes University is pleased to announce that the institution was recently ranked the 10th safest college in Ohio by BackgroundChecks.org in its 2016 report of the 45 safest colleges in Ohio. “We are delighted to be rated as such a safe campus. Lourdes students enjoy a campus which focuses on community and offers an aesthetically-rich environment,” says President Mary Ann Gawelek.
In compiling the list, accredited public and private not-for-profit Ohio institutions offering four-year degree programs were reviewed. BackgroundChecks.org combined data from campus crime statistics, graduation rates and student retention rates from the most recent U.S. Department of Education report; social media sentiment analysis; and the organization’s own research to create a ranking of the Safest Colleges in Ohio.
Jessica Pierce, a BackgroundChecks.org public safety analyst, says that institutions receiving this recognition should consider it a testament to their great administration, strong leadership, student and community involvement.
Princeton Review Recognition
Earlier this year, Lourdes University was named a Best Midwestern College for the 13th consecutive year by Princeton Review. In its “2017 Best Colleges: Region by Region” web feature, Princeton Review recognizes 649 colleges in four regions of the country - Northeast, Southeast, Midwest and West - that they consider academically outstanding and well worth consideration in a college search.
In Princeton Review’s “Quality of Life” measurement, Lourdes University received a score of 96. This rating is a measure of how happy students are with their lives outside the classroom, on a scale of 60-99. Several factors were weighed in determining the rating including students' assessments of their overall happiness; the beauty, safety, and location of the campus; the comfort of dorms; the quality of food; the ease of getting around campus and dealing with administrators; the friendliness of fellow students; the interaction of different student types; and the quality of the school's relationship with the local community.
