The Lourdes University Department of Art is pleased to announce its 2017 Spring Exhibition and Lecture Schedule. Mark your calendar for these exciting displays of art in various mediums. All events are free and open to the public.

Artists Lecture Series for March
Thursday, March 2 from 6 to 7 p.m.
Featuring mixed media glass artists Patrick DuBreuil and Robin Schultes
Co-presented by Lourdes University Art Department and the Sylvania Community Arts Commission’s Red Bird Art Walk. Lectures are held the Thursday evening prior to the first Friday of every month.

Sr. Jane Mary Sorosiak Lecture
Sunday, April 9 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Franciscan Center, 6832 Convent Blvd.
This year’s lecture features Jeni Hansen Gard. Ms. Gard is currently working on a project in conjunction with the River Center Foundation. Her project intends to bring the Sylvania community together around the celebration of food, ceramic objects and thoughtful dialog. Her lecture covers her past work and also highlights some of the exciting things she is doing with the River Center Foundation in Sylvania.

Department of Art
The Lourdes Department of Art offers two- and four-year degrees in Art and Art History. Students can also choose to pursue a concentration in Pre-Art Therapy. Art majors are encouraged to join one or both of the art-related student organizations – Orbis Ars and the Pre-Art Therapy Association. Other opportunities include participating in the Sr. Jane Mary Sorosiak Lecture Series, working with visiting artists, competing for art department scholarships, regional travel experiences to visit potential graduate programs and cultural venues, exhibiting work in the community through exhibitions and service, and study abroad opportunities such as the Student Art College International (SACI) in Florence, Italy.
