Sylvania Community Arts Commission 5th Annual Tree City Film Festival Weekend
The 5th Annual Tree City Film Festival is an exciting event set for March 25th and March 26th. This year we are excited to be presenting the Festival at Olander Park in the Nederhouser Community Hall. The Sylvania Community Arts Commission uses this weekend to celebrate film by creating a movie theater in a place where there isn’t one- and using it to show all different types of movies. Movies that are made locally and others that are globally acclaimed.
Saturday March 25th The 50 Hour Challenge Screening – Winning entries from the 50 Hour Film Challenge will be premiered. The 50 Hour Challenge took place in February with over 150 people participating on film teams. At the beginning of the event, each team received a series of elements that must be incorporated into their film – a particular genre, prop, line of dialogue, character name and shooting location. After the allotted 50 hours, teams submitted their finished films to be juried by a guest panel of judges who work in the film industry. The winning films will be viewed followed by an awards ceremony. Additionally, entries to the Sylvania Compassion Film Competition will be screened in cooperation with the Multi-faith Council of Northwest Ohio who accepted entries of short films of “what compassion looks like”.

• Sat, Mar 25th – The TCFF’s 50-Hour Challenge Screening & Awards | 07:00 P.M. (tickets are $8)
Sunday March 26th 7:00 PM: The Oscar Nominated Shorts - An amazing assembled showcase of all the 2016 Oscar Nominated animated and live action short films in one place! It happens at Olander Park in the Nederhouser Community Hall which is converted into a movie theater for the weekend. Only $8 a ticket. This showcase is sponsored by the River Centre Clinic and the River Centre Gallery.
