Toledo, Ohio -- [6/20/2017] The Arts Schools Network Board of Directors has designated Toledo School for the Arts in Toledo, Ohio as a 2017-2019 Exemplary School in recognition of its commitment to excellence. The Exemplary School designation is presented to Arts Schools Network (ASN) member schools that follow the ASN Principles of Exemplary Practice in strategically evaluating the school’s purpose, operations, and educational programs. ASN will honor Toledo School for the Arts (TSA) at the ASN 2017 Annual Conference in the Twin Cities, Minnesota on October 25. TSA takes pride in having a varied menu for students with insatiable hunger for arts experiences. The school offers an introductory curriculum for students in grades 6 through 8 to sample each discipline offered. In high school, a major area of study may be chosen and, by completing credit hours, graduates are eligible to receive an Arts Major Certificate. Not only are the arts an immersive and electric experience at TSA, but the academic teachers are challenged to, and excel at, integrating the arts into their state-standard curriculum to engage young creative minds in the subject matter and keep students excited to come to school each day. Melissa Brooks, Interim Executive Director for ASN, said, “We offer guidance, inspiration, and incentives to arts school leaders striving for excellence. When they demonstrate outstanding efforts toward this goal, as they do by following ASN’s Principals of Exemplary Practice, we recognize their achievements with this designation.” Arts Schools Network is a non-profit association founded in 1981 to provide leaders in arts schools with quality resources, support, and networking opportunities.
