Bad Astronomy at the Appold Planetarium
Were the Apollo visits to the moon actually a hoax? Have aliens landed on Earth? What does your horoscope really mean? Prepare to debunk and tackle pseudoscience head-on with the planetarium show Bad Astronomy: Myths and Misconceptions.
Based on the popular book and website of the same name, Bad Astronomy offers a unique and fun approach to learning about the cosmos. Join the “Bad Astronomer” Phil Plait as he takes a critical look at popular myths and misconceptions to show audiences how science can be used to evaluate questionable claims.
Created by the staff of the Dassault Systémes Planetarium and narrated by WJR-AM’s radio personality Rachel Nevada, Bad Astronomy will interest both new and experienced astronomers of all ages as it examines bad science wherever it can be found. Bad Astronomy is offered on Saturdays, November 4 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. The Appold Planetarium is located inside Mother Adelaide Hall on the Lourdes University campus, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania.
Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for children under 12 and for Lourdes students presenting their student ID. Shows at the Appold Planetarium are limited to 50 and often sell out.
