Tony Rasczyk and Sally Binard started this event 15 years ago as a way to raise awareness for mental illness and help erase the stigma associated with it. Having family and friends that live with mental illness, they wanted to show support for them as well as all people living with mental illness. They also wanted to bring people downtown since they both live in downtown Toledo.
Starting with a grassroots effort at Grumpys in 2005 with 100 people and raising over $5300, to 300 people at 5/3 Field and raising $29,000 in 2017. Since it's inception, Heart & Soul has raised over $360,000. One in four people have some form of mental illness. Please help support our event!
