A Catholic priest and a man who was exonerated from Ohio’s death row will present their real-life experiences with the flaws of the criminal justice system in “From Death (Row) into Life” on Friday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, 5411 Main St., Sylvania. The evening begins with Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m. followed immediately by the talk by Fr. Neil Kookoothe and Joe D’Ambrosio. Fr. Kookoothe is a native Toledoan and a Catholic priest, lawyer, nurse, and advocate for the social justice issue of wrongful conviction. With help from Fr. Kookoothe, Mr. D’Ambrosio was exonerated from Ohio’s death row in 2012 after spending 22 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. This event is free and open to the public. It is co-sponsored by St. Joseph Parish in Sylvania, Knights of Columbus Immaculate Conception Council 5628, and the Sylvania Franciscan Village.
