Ohio Renters Have a Can-Do Attitude Regarding Rent Payments

Ohio renters have a can-do attitude regarding rent payments. Even though Governor Mike DeWine has taken slack for not providing emergency relief legislation for renters in Ohio, rent is so far being paid by most Ohioans.

MartelTurnkey, a turnkey rental provider with extensive holdings in Ohio, including Cleveland and surrounding areas, expected that they might collect much less rent due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Antoine Martel of MartelTurnkey. However, only 5% of renters came up short, and those renters contacted the company to let them know what’s going on.

This statistic seems to be holding true across Ohio. Apartment building owners throughout the state are reporting in to say that only between 5% and 10% of renters are requesting leniency regarding late or missing rent payments.

Of course, time will tell how the situation will play out in the long-term. For now, the can-do attitude of Ohio residents is showing in the way that renters are working hard to make good on their lease agreements.
