The Amsterdam Sign Project, Photo Exhibit on View in Bowling Green, Ohio
Dr. Matthew Donahue from the Department of Popular Culture is exhibiting his "commercial archeology" photography research titled The Amsterdam Sign Project, at BGSU's Jerome Library (1st floor) and Grounds for Thought Coffeeshop (174 Sout Main St., Bowling Green, Ohio) until Wednesday, March 31.
Commercial archeology is archeological research and documentation of commercial businesses, ranging from vernacular commercial buildings to business signs and storefronts. For this project, Dr. Donahue took over 3000 photos of business signs and storefronts in Amsterdam, Netherlands, some of which are on exhibit at these two locations. This is a continuation of Dr. Donahue’s research on the popular culture of the Netherlands.
