Catholic Sisters Week - Challenge to End Hunger
Initiative to End Hunger in Our Local Toledo Area and
Raise Awareness to the Increase of Food Insecurity Nationwide.

“690 million people worldwide go to bed hungry every night. In the United States, 54 million people are food insecure, including 18 million children.”

During Catholic Sisters Week which is celebrated annually March 8-14th, all Catholic Sisters in the Toledo region are joining the nationwide collaborative effort initiated by the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) to serve persons in need and bring much needed awareness to the current increase in food insecurity and underlying causes, such as the COVID-19 Pandemic, poverty, unemployment/under-employment, and inconsistent access to healthy food.

Challenged by LCWR Region IV, the Sisters of Notre Dame, Sisters of St. Francis-Sylvania, Sisters of Mercy, Sisters of St. Francis-Tiffin, Sisters of the Visitation, Ursuline Sisters and Sisters of Mercy in Alma Michigan have accepted the CHALLENGE TO END HUNGER.

“All women religious find it imperative to help their communities in any way they can, and we challenge the Toledo area to help us in this national effort to end hunger. Please join us on Friday, March 12th to “STUFF THE TRUCK” benefiting the Toledo Seagate Food Bank."

What: “STUFF THE TRUCK” 
When: Friday, March 12, 2021 from 6am-6pm
Where: Walt Churchill’s Market, 3320 Briarfield Blvd., Maumee OH 43537
Who: All proceeds and donations will benefit the Toledo Seagate Food Bank.
*Suggested items include canned fruit and vegetables, dry pasta, canned tuna, peanut butter, canned soup, cereal, granola bars, rice, beans.
