Toledo children’s book author is a real “Do-Gooder”
Local author Jennifer Beaver shares the spotlight during book launch party with Humane Ohio on August 26, 2021.
Jennifer Beaver, a Toledo native, recently released her debut children’s book, Dinder’s Big Day. Jennifer wrote and illustrated the book based on a family pet. However, Jennifer was not comfortable with the spotlight during her launch party being placed solely on her, so she insisted on sharing the time with a local charity. Jennifer partnered with Humane Ohio for the event, where Jennifer will donate 10% of every sale and offer a 50/50 raffle to raise money for the organization. Jennifer’s company, Dinderdog Publishing, has also vowed to always donate 10% of all sales from books and merchandise to a local charity. “I grew up in the Old South End, very poor. As the oldest of four kids, I eventually put myself through college to earn my bachelor’s and juris doctor from the University of Toledo while juggling being a wife and mother. We then moved a few times for my job, living in Arkansas and Indiana … all while realizing Toledo is where we wanted to be. We sometimes take for granted how rich Toledo is in culture, diversity, and ambition. I’m proud to say I’m from Toledo and I will do what I can to pay it forward to the next poor kid determined to help continue making Toledo a great place to live.”
Author Bio:
Jennifer is the creator and independent author-illustrator of the Dinder Dog children’s book series. Her first book, Dinder’s Big Day, debuted in 2021, and plans are underway for two additional Dinder Dog stories by 2023.
Jennifer’s inspiration for Dinder Dog comes from spending time at home with her very playful St. Bernard. Dinder’s loving and curious nature has provided Jennifer (a.k.a. Moh-ma as Dinder calls her) with plenty of laughs and stories to share with others!
Jennifer was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, where she currently resides with her husband, kids, two dogs, and one crazy cat. When not playing with Dinder or promoting her book, Jennifer enjoys games with family and friends, attempting to cook or garden, and catching the latest must-see movie with her kids!
