Electric Vehicle Ride and Drive Event Launches Scholarship Fundraiser

Once again, electric vehicle owners from the area will gather at Levis Commons for the eighth-annual Ride-and-Drive event.  On Saturday, September 25 dozens of electric vehicles will be on display.

Michael Hall, organizer of the event, is president of Electric Auto Association of Northwest Ohio, a local non-profit organization.  "We’ve had such great success promoting these zero-emission vehicles.  This organization has partnered with Clean Fuels Ohio and Plug In America to help create awareness and educate the public regarding the benefits of driving electric vehicles.  There are literally hundreds of new vehicles available now from area dealers, and we’ll display them here on September 25.”

"National Drive Electric Week" is held throughout the USA during September.  Thousands of vehicles will be displayed over hundreds of cities between September 25 and October 03.

"I am proud to announce," Mr. Hall continued, "Electric Auto Association of Northwest Ohio will launch a scholarship fundraiser for high-school students entering the field of advanced automotive technologies.  Today's hybrid and electric vehicles are very sophisticated, and the industry needs highly-trained technicians."  Our goal is to raise scholarship dollars through the raffle of some great items during this event and through our Facebook website as well.

Mr. Hall states "This has been an unbelievable year.  So many said it couldn’t be done, but here we are with vehicles from Chevrolet, Ford, Nissan, VW, and Tesla!”   He notes “Come and speak with the owners to fully understand the reasons they chose to purchase these alternative-fuel vehicles.  There will be no salesman, no pressure to buy or lease; just owners who can explain the numerous benefits of 'Driving Electric' in their own words.”

Mr. Hall noted that the cost-per-mile of driving an all-electric vehicle averages about three to four cents per mile as compared to a gasoline vehicle that can exceed four times the cost per mile to operate.  The purchase prices are competitive now more than ever as well.  "Electric drivetrains are basically simple and very efficient.  There is a fraction of the moving parts and complexity of a gasoline or diesel vehicle.  These vehicles can serve the everyday needs of 80% of the American drivers.”

Patrons and participants will be asked to follow state and local ordinances regarding current conditions.  There will be plenty of sanitizer, wipes, and masks made in the USA.

He concluded, "The members of Electric Auto Association encourage the public to come early, shop, dine, and enjoy the Levis Commons surroundings; make it an enjoyable day-trip.  Settle in at our Electric Avenue parking lot to speak with owners of hybrid, plug-in, and all-electric vehicles.  Look, see, touch, and drive these amazing vehicles!"

The event is located at The Town Center at Levis Commons, 3201 Levis Commons Blvd
Perrysburg, OH 43551.  The hours of the event are 11:00am to 4:00pm.  Follow the signs to Hollenbeck Drive.  This is a rain-or-shine event.
